It seems that these days everyone is always against some
sort of clock. There’s so much rushing about and panicking, we don’t ever just
stop and take it in, we miss so much that is going on around us, and our lives
have become whirlwinds that disappear as quickly as they arrived. There are
deadlines at work, minutes at meetings, school runs, after school activities,
tea-time, timetables, clock watching. It’s such a rat race, there’s so much
competitiveness all around, in the workplace, in school, even with your next
door neighbour, the whole ‘keeping up with the Jones’ has taken a turn for the
worse. We’re obsessed with time and how much we have of it or at least how
little we have, someone is always running late or worrying that they might be
running late, checking their watch, worrying about their biological clock
ticking. It’s all about time and how we don’t have enough, not enough hours in
the day, its true though, we don’t have much time, in the grand scheme of
things a lifetime is gone in the blink of an eye, so we should seize the day,
take our time to just have one more minute to watch that sunset, read a few
more pages of your book, one last quick kiss before work because in the end we
are all just against the clock.
